Green design is an important aspect of our business. From organic fabrics and vegetable dyes to salvaged architectural items and sustainable building materials such as bamboo, sea grass and kirei board (a sorghum derivative), we strive to utilize materials that will not negatively impact our environment.
One of the most controversial hot buttons is the usage of fur products. There has been a great misconception that faux fur is environmentally friendly. In fact, the petro chemicals used in the making of such items is far more damaging to the health of our environment and to this planet as a whole, than any natural product. Petro chemicals, once discarded and released into the atmosphere, contribute to the growing threat of green house gases. They are responsible for the destruction of rain forests, the melting of the polar caps, and the subsequent effects of climate change.
At Outerluxe, we believe ranch raised fur products are our best alternative. They represent a sector of commerce equivalent to that of cattle and poultry farming. We are very cognisant of the concerns of those who question the treatment of these animals so we work only with entities that demonstrate humane treatment.
It is our hope that in making a choice to judiciously use nature’s resources, we might lessen the carbon footprint we leave behind.
